10 Motivational Points In 2 Minutes
Posted by Mitch Mitchell on Sep 23, 2012
I like the number 10. My previous post talked about 10 customer service lessons in two minutes. Before that I've done 10 leadership points, 10 diversity lessons, 10 business practices, and 10 Harry Potter leadership lessons.

I figure it's time for 10 motivational statements that I believe you can put forth in your mind to help you feel better, work better, and, well, anything else better. Positivity can go a long way in helping you want to succeed. Here we go.
1. Remove fear, uncertainty and doubt from your mind. When you're trying to push forward, anything that detracts you from your ultimate goals will only stifle you.
2. Excuses are for people who aren't serious about achieving their dreams. All of us find something or someone else to blame our problems on but when all is said and done, 99% of those issues are our own fault. By the way, the first two quotes are from a motivational guy named Dave Navarro (no, not the musician).
3. "Do or do not; there is no try." - Yoda This is a mindset, not really a difference in action. If you "try" you give yourself an excuse because you don't fully believe in yourself.
4. Think of success as something you've already done. When you see yourself as already achieving your dream, then you have direction and a purpose in life.
5. Every day is another chance to start again. I live this one all the time. Every day doesn't go perfectly, thus when I have a day that wasn't up to par, instead of beating myself up all the time I know that I have another shot at it when I wake up the next morning.
6. You need motivation every day just like you need to eat and bathe every day. This is a play on words from the great Zig Ziglar. Every day you need to find something that boosts your mental state and can carry you on to great success.
7. Every great person that achieved success on their own started out like you. This is actually something paraphrased from the 5th Harry Potter movie. Unless they were born into money, everyone else was once poor or middle class, no smarter or better equipped than you were at the same age.
8. Don't believe in miracles; believe in possibilities. Another one of my own. Almost everything that one person has claimed to be a miracle has an explanation for it. But possibilities are endless and thus you can do and achieve almost anything if you believe you can.
9. The worst thing that can happen if you don't make positive steps forward is one day you'll say "I could have..." No one fails when they give it their best shot. All you do is move closer to succeeding.
10. You're never really alone; all you have to do is reach out. Sometimes you feel lost and alone, like no one else could or would understand you. Everyone has someone who does or can love them; feed off that reality and nothing's impossible.
Mitch, you can’t imagine how useful two last posts that I am reading on your blogs comes to me. I think for a while I’ve lost the path and motivation and currently “recharging” my stamina, but things for sure will come on place if I follow these tips.
I’m glad Carl. We all lose our way here and there, so I’m glad I can help some.
All good stuff Mitch and I’d like to think I apply most of it.
I like the idea of #1, any ideas on *how* someone can go about this? I ask because I’m only too aware of that liability but have patchy success in stamping it out.
Roz, I always look at the main question: what’s the worst that can happen. If the answer isn’t “I could be killed” then how bad could it really be? 🙂 Remember, each of the things mentioned in that post are things we don’t know or haven’t fully considered. Most of the time they’re irrational; heck, my fear of bugs and insects is considered by many to be irrational. However, there’s nothing I want to do that bugs keeps me from doing so I can handle it. But if fear keeps you from your dreams, duties, whatever, that’s when you have to think about the worst that can happen. And it’s usually not all that bad, even if you’ve told yourself you don’t want to experience it. Once you know what it is, you often can find a way around it.
Thanks Mitch, food for thought there, irrational fear and rational fear, there’s a difference.
Thanks Mitch, these are 10 great motivating quotes to start each day! #9 is the one that really gets me. #6 makes me laugh but it sure is true.
Thanks Lisa. I like doing these little quick hitters here and there because no one can complain that they’re either too hard to understand or too long. Strangely enough, a couple of them take me longer to write than my 800 word posts. But I always hope they provide something positive for folks to take away with them.
