Everyone who leaves a comment on this blog has to leave their email address. This means that I know every person's email address. That goes for almost every other blog you participate with that gives you the option of receiving email back when someone comments on either something you said or a post you previously commented on. Since I'm the only one who posts to this blog, I'm the only one who has access to any of your emails. Unless I set up a newsletter and you give me your email addresses for that, you have my guarantee that I will never use your email address for advertising, although I might use it to write you directly to comment or ask you about something. Your address will never be sold to anyone else or shared with anyone else either; I just don't have the time to go back through all these comments looking for them, so it's not happening.

As of late March, 2009, Google has added something kind of goofy. Instead of writing it all out, I'm going to copy parts of it here:

Google Advertising Cookie and Privacy Policies

What is the DoubleClick DART cookie?

The DoubleClick DART cookie is used by Google in the ads served on publisher websites displaying AdSense for content ads. When users visit an AdSense publisher's website and either view or click on an ad, a cookie may be dropped on that end user's browser. The data gathered from these cookies will be used to help AdSense publishers better serve and manage the ads on their site(s) and across the web.

* Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on your site.
* Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet.
* Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.

We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

If you want more information, which includes links, go here. Now, you as a visitor have the right to opt-out of being tracked like that, which I've done, and you can learn how to do that by clicking here.
