Back in December I posted my business/personal goals for 2009 on this blog. Even though I'm a month past midway, I figured that I'd be upfront and discuss where I am with those goals right now. After all, if I'm a big enough man to put them out there in the first place, I'm a big enough man to keep them out in front, to try to keep me moving forward in some fashion.

First, let's take a look at what my business goals were for 2009:

1. Work on finding more ways to earn money from home rather than being on the road so much.

2. Lose 25 pounds.

3. Figure out a way to reduce my glucose level when I’m on the road.

4. Present in five states that I’ve never presented in before.

5. Finish writing another book.

Actually, I guess I can say I've done number one, though it wasn't necessarily voluntarily. I've been making most of my money these days by writing. I've become an article writer and blog writer for others, and it's going pretty well. And I haven't had to go on the road, which hasn't been depressing. However, the income has dropped considerably, as I'm still relatively new at writing, but it's growing, and that's a pleasant thing.

For number two, well, that hasn't happened. My weight is still holding steady. And for number three, since I haven't been on the road, I've had to try to keep it steady while I've been home, with very moderate success. It seems to depend on whether I exercise or not, so if I'm exercising often, it's good, and if I'm not, it's not good.

Concerning number four, I've only given two presentations so far this year, and it was from right here in my own home. One was on diversity for the Briefings Publishing Group that, once I was done, never even contacted me to thank me, or acknowledge to me that I ever did anything for them, which I thought was pretty rude, but so goes business. As proof that I did it, they are marketing the audio cast on their site for $199; not to give them publicity after they've ignored me, but hey, it's me doing the thing after all.

The second presentation was my first webinar ever, titled Social Media, SEO & Your Business in 90 Minutes, and that's pretty self explanatory. It went very well, and now we've got it for sale at that link above. I'll be doing a lot more of that type of thing as time goes on.

My last goal was to finish writing another book. At this point, with all the other writing I'm doing, it's not looking good. I did create a new website based on some articles I didn't end up selling to a customer called Smoke Not So Much, an anti-smoking site, but that's about as close as I've come to that goal.

Anyway, there we are. I have a long way to go for some of these, but at least I did hit one of them. Let's see how it all looks later on as we get closer to year end.
