Ten Affirmations
Posted by Mitch Mitchell on Oct 4, 2006
On another post, I talked about this movie experience called The Secret . Based off that, because I feel like we need some positive spirit this week after many of the bad types of things that have been going on in this country over the last couple of weeks, I want to offer a challenge and some encouragement to you.
I want people to list 10 things they want in their lives. But, of course, there are ground rules, because this won't be as easy as you think. For one, you can only list things for yourself, not for anyone else; this means you can't wish for world peace. Two, you have to be somewhat specific without being too limiting. This means you can't say "I want to be rich" without qualifications, but you also can't say "I want $1,000". The first one isn't specific enough if you don't have some sort of reason behind it, and the other is too low to actually make a difference in your life. However, if you said "I want to be rich so I can,...", and fill in the blanks, then it's all good.
The point here is that these are things that you're going to add as your affirmations for your life. Once they're listed, you can't take them back. And, once they're out there, you should start feeling pretty good about yourself, because I'm hoping to force you to think positively about things in your life. Nothing negative here; we're shooting for the top!
I'm going to start, so you can see how I'm doing it, and then I hope all of you decide to participate. And remember, the 10 affirmations have to be about YOU!
1. I want to own a 7,500 square foot ranch house along with 5 acres, that will allow my house to grow as I see fit.
2. I want to write as many books as I can, and have each one become a best seller in its genre.
3. I want to get down to my prime weight the healthy way, and want to view working out as something I enjoy along the way to being healthy.
4. I want to be able to travel more for enjoyment rather than work, whenever I want to, wherever I want to go.
5. I want to travel around the world giving seminars on a multitude of topics, and have people think of me as one of the most popular presenters in the world.
6. I want to see in person all of the wonders that fascinate me in calenders.
7. I want abundance to fill my life so that I can share it with my friends and give to the charities I want to help without feeling pressured because of financial constraints.
8. I want to hire a housekeeper to keep my house clean, a personal trainer to keep my body fit, a masseuse to keep my body feeling good, and a cook to keep me eating healthy.
9. I want to be able to offer positive influence in people's lives, and be remembered for any goodness I might be able to impress upon others.
10. I want prosperity and wealth to never stop coming into my life so I don't feel guilty when I step back, take a big breath, and say "thank you" to whomever might be listening.
I hope you share yours here with me, but even if you don't, please take the challenge, because it's all for you. Afterward, put it in a place where you can see it often. Reinforce in your mind the things you want. Positive energy is always better than negative energy. Each of us has the chance to make something better of our lives, if we only take the time to define what it is we want.
The Secret also talks about seeing things in the present. Seeing them as if they have occurred already. I am happy and grateful now that….”
I am happy and grateful now that I am an international consultant working on projects in major metropolitan cities with large clients. I now speak frequently at international conferences, where my knowledge and opinion are valued. Because of this work, we have remodeled the kitchen and are spending time at LifePath Retreats with Joseph Disperza (not the same person as the one in What the Bleep).
Has some of this already come to pass? Yes, but not the entire picture…yet I must envision it in the “now.”
First, thanks for the comment, period, Jill. I’d been wondering if my comments area was alive to anyone other than spammers! Second, you’re right about seeing things in the “now”, as opposed to the future. I have to admit that part is hard when you have more than one goal, but having more than one goal means it’s harder for you to stop dreaming just because you’ve reached a goal. As Tony Robbins says, ‘When you run out of goals, you stop living.”
Mitch,
Bravo, the news of The Secret is spreading!
I took a course “Money and You” from one of its wonderful participants, Joe Vitale, and Unity leader, Mindy Audlin, in Wimberley, Texas a couple weeks ago.
I suggest you download some excellent free software from Joe at http://www.intentioncreator.com. It helps you focus on your goals.
I worked overseas in Europe, Asia, and Australia for many years, Mitch, and am envisioning getting back into international work.
All the best to everyone reading this.
