Jamie Foxx completed his magical season by winning the best actor award at the Academy Awards. History was made, though, when Morgan Freeman won the best supporting actor award, beating none other than the same Jamie Foxx. There had never been two black winners in the same year before, and after many eyars where there weren’t any nominated, this year turned the tables,… at least for men. There was one black lady nominated for supporting actress, and none for best actress. Still, it was another successful season.

Chris Rock, the host, did one little movie that was very telling. He interviewed black people in theaters somewhere and asked them if they’d seen certain movies that were nominated for the top film. The only one he didn’t ask them about was Ray, about the legendary Ray Charles. Not a single one had seen any of the other films, and I hate to admit this but I didn’t see any of them myself. Course, I also hadn’t seen Soul Plane, White Chicks, or any of those other movies either, so I wasn’t showing favoritism. Well, except for Ray; that was a great movie.

Fun night; it only went 10 minutes over also. Still, there needs to be more inclusion across the board; let’s see what 2005 brings us.
