If you saw my post a few days ago explaining where I'd been because of my blog problems, then you can imagine that, though I got it working, something had to have messed up. In this case, it was something I thought was relatively minor, something I did that it turns out I didn't have to do.

What I did was try to import posts that I thought had gone missing. Instead, all my posts were actually still on the blog, just hidden for whatever reason, but I ended up duplicating some posts. Since I have way over 600 posts and it duplicated about 79 posts, I figured that wasn't so bad. However, I started thinking this evening that I had to go and get rid of some of those posts because people tend to see some of those older ones and comment on them.

I initially thought about only going through the first 75 posts, which means the first 5 pages, to see what duplicates I might find. There are 15 posts per page in the WordPress admin area, and I figured that would be enough. Once I got into it, I realized that just wasn't going to get it done. If I was going to do a thing, I might as well do it right, do it completely.

And I did. I went through the entire site, which had increased the number of posts it said I had to almost 750, and duplicated all the duplicates. I hope I got them all, but as I said, the tally told me I got 79, so that sounds right.

Sometimes we're tasked with a duty and will stop at "good enough" rather than "best effort." We get tired, or we feel the job doesn't deserve anything better. That's not usually my style, and it shouldn't be anyone's style. If we're going to put forth any effort whatsoever, we should always try to do our best, and expect the best out of others. Even if their best isn't as good as you'd like it, at least they're giving you what they have.
