Sometimes we take shots from people who don't deserve our attention. For instance, you're driving down the road and someone cuts you off, and instead of apologizing they're calling you names and making rude suggestions with their hands towards you. Or, you decide to bow out of a situation gracefully, and instead of having it accepted in a proper fashion the other person uses that moment to insult you.

How you decide to react to these situations tells more about your character than anything else you ever get to do, because these are times when you're reacting more than planning what you might want to say. Even if, later on, you begin to think of other ways you wish you'd responded, your immediate reaction is really more key than the later thoughts, when the shock of the moment has worn off.

So, when you're thinking about things like this, how do you feel your reaction reflects upon who you feel you really are? Do you start cussing and using all sorts of bad language? Do you start hitting things? Do you give back what you received, or even possibly go further?

Of course, this goes further when you're in either a work situation or a personal situation. At work, most people err on the side of courtesy; at home, most people treat their loved ones worse than someone else, feeling they can do it because, after all, "they know me better". Just how fair is that?

Something more to think about as you go about your day.
