<\/a>After these 10 tips, I'm going to list every other 10 Tips post I've written over the past few years from this blog & my other blogs. Most are 2 minute articles; a few are 3 minutes. I'm also including a couple other \"number\" posts about communications; those are longer than 2 minutes.<\/p>\n
If you only read these 10 tips, this will only take 2 minutes. If you decide to check out any of the others... that's on you! \ud83d\ude42 This will be the final one for 2015. On with the tips!<\/p>\n
1.<\/strong> Listening is paramount. If you don't listen, you won't know if you're responding to the right thing.<\/p>\n 2.<\/strong> Be precise with your language. If a word has more than one meaning choose a different word.<\/p>\n 3.<\/strong> Look people in the eyes when you're talking to them. <\/p>\n 4.<\/strong> Turn off your smartphone when you're talking to people or are in meetings.<\/p>\n 5.<\/strong> Unless you have another meeting afterwards. In that case, set the alarm so you're not constantly looking at it & checking the time.<\/p>\n 6.<\/strong> Speak to people like you want to be spoken to.<\/p>\n 7.<\/strong> If you're teaching people how to do something using a written policy, don't leave things out. Never assume people know things they might not.<\/p>\n 8.<\/strong> There are times when silence is more powerful than any words you might think of saying.<\/p>\n 9.<\/strong> In today's world, it's okay to use smileys or \"lol\" in email. Sometimes it's the smart move in conveying your mood at the time you're writing something.<\/p>\n 10.<\/strong> Remember that your body language can counter what you're saying. Be cognizant of that, especially if you're lying (don't lie lol).<\/p>\n That's it.
