You never know where a pretty good idea is going to come from. No one could be as surprised as I was when I received an email from a friend of mine named Dean Hua, an up and comer I met on Ryze; seems I’ve met a lot of people on Ryze, doesn’t it?

Anyway, he sent a long email which I’m not going to post here, but I am going to post the link to, because it comes from his business blog called Sachi Studios. The post is called The Dean’s List – 2007, and basically it’s his second year of reaching out to all his friends, and naming some of them for extra kudos. He not only posted it on his blog; he then sent the post to everyone who’s on his email list, though he left the second part, where he specifically names people, only on the blog.

I thought it was a wonderful idea. It reminded me of a newsletter that I wrote back in 2004, that I’m now ashamed that I’ve never followed it up with another post. Back then it was titled “Thank You”, and it was the second part of a rare double newsletter; can’t see that happening again. Instead of putting it in a newsletter, I’m going to work on it over the next couple of days, and I’ll post it here as well as send it to everyone who’s on my email lists, including my newsletter subscribers. Anyway, I’ve posted that particular newsletter entry on one of my blog pages, which you can access here if you’d like to check it out; who knows, your name might have been in it.

If you go to Dean’s page, he suggests you do something similar, even if all you do is copy his to mail out. I like that idea also. Thanks Dean.
