The Black Factor

I don’t usually offer up other blogs as a topic of discussion, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t alert you to this one. It’s called The Black Factor, and it’s writer, S. Mary Wills, states that she’s “an African-American worker with a background in Human Resources. I have created this site to address a continued problem in the American workplace–active racism and discrimination.”

In my own words, this blog highlights issues many black people have in the workplace where they’re in the minority; yes, this means pretty much everywhere. It’s hard hitting, but I can’t say that most of what she says isn’t accurate, and that’s a shame. Here we are, 2006, and someone has to write a blog that specifically still addresses the sins of the workplace that black people have had to endure, well, for what seems like forever at this point.

If you’ve got the heart, take a look at it and read some of the entries without automatically saying “not me”. It’s not always about you, and that’s an important lesson to learn.
